MATH EDUCATION REFORM
K-12 and higher mathematics education reimagined. A series of textbooks and online courses coming soon.
Why Study Mathematics?
Today mathematics is viewed merely as one of the sciences that teaches how to compute and calculate. Hence, many think mathematics is only used in highly quantitative fields of science, engineering and technology.
In fact, mathematics is both the queen and the servant of all human activity. In modern world, the main strength of mathematics is in teaching logical thinking, creativity, critical analysis, problem solving and information processing - skills critical for succeeding in all aspects of today’s world including business, administration, health, media, art and technology.
Our Goal
Increase the number of STEAM graduates, and prepare highly innovative workforce in the world by instilling mathematical culture and mathematical technique in students.
Our Approach
Reformed Content: single language describing the entire school mathematics.
Shortened content
Standard solutions are for computers, atypical problems are for students. Learn to think, not to memorize.
Deepened content
Our program provides complete context on problems: origins and historical development of concepts, additional details and nuances, interdependencies between concepts, real-life benefits, key limitations of already established theories, critical look at the state of completion and prospects of topics and mathematics in general, ideas on opportunities for further development.
Widened content
Our curriculum is expanded with additional useful topics that are mathematical foundations of computer science, e.g., mathematical logic, probability theory, theory of algorithms, software engineering. We use an interconnected approach to teaching using a triad: Mathematics + Philosophy + Language
Beyond conventional school mathematics
We put emphasis on modern applied aspects of mathematics such as Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and relational databases. Pre-school mathematics, history and philosophy of mathematics, reference manuals, and self-evaluation tools.
Reformed Style: make mathematics personal, approachable, interesting.
Artistic + popular + logical style
Our program not only speaks to the student’s mind (logic), but also to the soul (feelings). We describe mathematics in natural language to excite, to evoke feelings, to spark interest. This includes conversations about and around the topic with useful context to gain insight and intuition, popular “in Layman’s terms” descriptions, in addition to the strict mathematical presentation. We help students first feel the topic (intuition) and afterwards, understand with the use of legends, lyrical digressions, and exaggerations. For mathematics education we are a supporter of the STEM to STEAM transformation: STEM + ART = STEAM
Conversational style between teacher and students
Ensure maximal participation of students in their education.
